Sky’s Keel Allocates $500M to Solana Real-World Assets

The 'Regatta' RFP mandates bankruptcy-remote, USD-denominated assets with T0/T1 settlement.

Over 40 asset managers have expressed interest, with deployments targeting Q1 2026.

The institutional bridge to Solana just widened significantly. Keel, the autonomous allocator entity within the Sky (formerly MakerDAO) ecosystem, has announced a $500 million capital injection targeting Solana-native real-world assets (RWAs). Dubbed the "Tokenization Regatta," this public RFP is not a grant program but a direct liquidity deployment designed to force-mature the network's asset issuance standards. By acting as a massive buy-side anchor, Keel is effectively bootstrapping a high-liquidity RWA market, with the initial tranche alone projected to increase Solana’s RWA Total Value Locked (TVL) by 60%.

Matariki Labs founder Cian Breathnach outlined strict criteria for the allocation, signaling a move away from experimental pilots toward institutional-grade plumbing. Eligible assets must be bankruptcy-remote, USD-denominated, and capable of T0 or T1 settlement. The initiative is split into two tracks: Track A for assets ready for immediate deployment by March 31, 2026, and Track B to cultivate a pipeline for the subsequent 12 to 18 months. This structure allows Keel to deploy capital rapidly while simultaneously guiding issuers through the compliance and technical hurdles required for the Sky ecosystem.

This aggressive deployment suggests Sky is betting heavily on Solana's high-throughput architecture to handle the next generation of DeFi credit. With over 40 global asset managers already signaling interest, the "Regatta" serves as a stress test for issuers and a signal that Solana is ready to host complex, yield-bearing financial instruments at scale. The process is being supported by the Solana Foundation, Kinetika Research, and Particula, ensuring that the selected assets meet the rigorous risk parameters required to back Sky's decentralized stablecoin liquidity.

Why This Matters

Keel's Tokenization Regatta, backed by a $500M allocation capacity, can significantly catalyze RWA growth on Solana, attracting major asset managers and providers.
